Abstract

Based on characteristic modes analysis (CMA), a novel mode reconfigurable multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system has been designed to operate in a dynamic environment. The proposed MIMO antenna array includes two feeding ports, each of which excites a pair of parallelly located capacitive exciters. By inputting in-phase and out-of-phase signals, three kinds of characteristic modes are generated. Due to the orthogonality between the characteristic modes, the good isolation between two ports is achieved. Simulation results validate mode diversity of the proposed reconfigurable MIMO antenna array.
