Abstract
An ultra-miniaturized dual-band antenna based on meandered ground plane is proposed and developed in this paper. Intended antenna is operating well over 1.80-1.83 GHz and 3.37-3.51 GHz with - 10 dB bandwidth of 30 MHz and 140 MHz, respectively. The novelty of this work is to find miniaturized structure by means of meandered ground plane. The electrical size of the proposed antenna is 0.15 λ0 × 0.15 λ0 × 0.009λ0 at the lowest frequency, which confirms its ultra-compact nature. Proposed antenna exhibits maximum radiation in the end-fire direction in first band although monopolar pattern in second band. It also shows minimum cross polarization level at 90° for both of the bands. Simulated gain of 0.16 dBi and 2.05 dBi is observed at 1.82 GHz and 3.45 GHz respectively. Aforementioned results depict that proposed antenna is potentially suitable for 4G (LTE), WiMAX, WLAN/Wi-Fi Applications.
