Minority-Union Collective Bargaining: What's Old is New

Abstract

This year marks the re-beginning of the critical role that labor unions can once again play in the American economy. Although the Trumpian years represented the culmination of half a century of organized labor’s steady decline in membership and influence, recent widespread employee and union activity, plus strong union support by President Biden and renewed public interest tell us that a variety of positive changes affecting American workers are now in the offing. Those changes are occurring in a rapidly changing world of work, a world where human employees increasingly share their work with robots and applications of artificial intelligence (AI).
