Abstract

The 2015 report Skills, Challenges, and Trends in Instructional Design published by the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and its partners identified fourteen “emerging trends” in instructional design. These trends include: adaptive learning (e.g. personalized learning), badges, designing content for use in various cultures or regions, game-based learning; infographics, learning analytics, mobile learning, MOOCs, QR codes, social media and social learning, storytelling, virtual simulation, wearable technologies (e.g. Google Glass), and 3-D printing.
