In this, Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) is the most popular among the other types of PONs because of some betterments like higher Upstream (US) and Downstream (DS) bit rate also Quality of Service (QoS). The latest version of GPON is 10GPON also called as XGPON. Still the utilization of entire bandwidth is bit challenging. For that, GPON needs a Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA) mechanism at Optical Line Terminal (OLT). This paper presents an analysis of DBA algorithms in GPON and each algorithm is compared with others based on various aspects.
