Abstract

Raised in an Orthodox family in England, the author describes her family's isolation from popular culture and her intellectual relationship with her father. She describes her coming of age through secular intellectual pursuits, beginning with an undergraduate degree in the sciences at Cambridge University and continuing with a PhD in philosophy at Harvard University.
