Abstract
In photovoltaic applications, a high gain converter is required to increase the voltage. The presented paper proposes a new family of DC/DC step-up converters with three-windings magnetic coupling and two voltage multiplier cells. The use of voltage-boosting technique allows the topologies to achieve high voltage gain with smaller duty cycle and turn ratio. The voltage stress across the power switch is reduced. As a result, low on-state resistance MOSFET can be employed, minimizing conduction loss. Moreover, the switch operates with zero-current switching at turn-on time. This leads to negligible turn-on switching loss. Additionally, all diodes turn off with zero-current switching, eliminating reverse recovery losses. The proposed family features, operating principles and simulation results are also discussed in the paper.
