La politique intellectuelle de Mvemba N'zinga (Dom Afonso 1er) Mani Kongo

Abstract

Resume Profitant des occasions que lui offrait le monarque portugais: envoi de missionnaires, etudes des jeunes ";Bakongo"; au Portugal, Mvemba N'zinga voulut mettre sur pied un reseau d'enseignement susceptible de procurer au Kongo toutes les competences indispensables pour la realisation de son programme ambitieux. Ni les deceptions de Mbanza Kongo, ni l'insucces des etudes a Lisbonne, ni les disparitions tragiques des jeunes envoyes au Portugal, n'eurent raison de l'obstination du Mani Kongo a reussir sa politique. Malheureusement, le manque de ressources humaines suffisantes, la divergence d'interets entre Lisbonne et Mbanza Kongo, furent autant d'obstacles parmi tant d'autres, a la realisation de ce programme grandiose qui aurait pu faire de l'Ancien Kongo un centre de rayonnement intellectuel et culturel dans cette region du continent africain. Le Kongo venait de rater un grand rendez-vous avec l'histoire. Nor the disappointments of Mbanza Kongo, nor the failure of the studies in Lisboa, nor the tragic disappearances of the youngsters sent to Portugal, didn't break the persistence of the Mani Kongo politics to succeed. Unfortunately, the lack of sufficient human resources, as also the divergence of interests between Lisboa and Mbanza Kongo, constituted enormous obstacles. If realized, this imposing program could have made of the former Kongo an intellectual and cultural radiance center in this region of the African continent.
