Abstract
This paper describes the analysis and visualization of a Moodle student event log. A method for automatically generating pivot and time series cross section (TSCS) tables is proposed, and experimental results are summarized. The event log was accumulated in a face-to-face blended classroom with a large number of students using course materials uploaded on Moodle. For the accumulated event log, an experiment to automatically generate pivot and TSCS tables with the developed Excel macros was performed. As a result, both overall and individual viewpoints could be visualized for course material page views within classes and outside of class, viewing of all course materials and individual course materials, and viewing behavior of collected and individual students. The generated pivot and TSCS tables could be used to clearly identify students who did not open the course materials during class and those who opened the course materials later than instructed by the teacher. The results of the analysis in this paper can be used by teachers to look back on the progress of their lessons and provide suggestions for improvement.
