Abstract

Significant progress has been made of the past several years in understanding the hazards of arcing faults to maintenance personnel working on electrical equipment. The various standards such as the National Electrical Code requires how a piece of electrical equipment is manufactured, labeled and installed, but does not address the hazards associated when the equipment doors are opened and an arc fault or flash occurs.
