Abstract

A summary review is given of the data and information that is available regarding meson production in nuclei, especially as induced by hadronic probes such as pions and protons. A discussion is given of features of the pion‐nucleon interaction in the free system and in nuclei. A proposed set of experiments related to eta production is described. Ideas are advanced for new studies of heavy meson production in nuclei, such as that involving rhos and omegas, in order to learn important features of the meson‐nucleon interaction.
