Abstract

The characteristics of 7.5–80 MeV proton cyclotrons for the production of short-lived and generator radionuclides for positron-emission tomography are presented. A classi fi cation of cyclotrons by proton energy is given. Recommendations are made for choosing compact 7.5–12 MeV cyclotrons for producing short-lived 18 F, 15 O, 13 N, and 11 C and cyclotrons with proton energy tens of MeV for producing the generators 68 Ge/ 68 Ga and 82 Sr/ 82 Rb.
