Abstract
This paper is aimed at identifying the design parameters of a PM Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor (PMASyRM), by using cheaper magnets (for example hard ferrites) than those used for the equivalent stator of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) taken as a reference. The rotor saliency is expected to be as high as possible so that its performance is comparable with the reference, while having a lower cost of production based on the same volume and with the same length of the core. The model obtained after this identification procedure can be also employed for implementing model reference control techniques.
