Abstract

This paper presents an investigation into the power quality of a standalone 7-level packed U-cell topology (PUC7) with carrier-based modulation approach. A comparison of sinusoidal PWM and Third Harmonic Injected HIPWM modulation strategy such as (phase disposition (PD), phase opposition disposition (POD), and alternate Phase Opposition Disposition (APOD) are applied to determine the impact of the proposed PWM modulations on the performance of multilevel inverters. The PUC inverter has a fewer number of components and lower cost than the conventional topologies. The simulation work is performed by MATLAB/Simulink software.
