Abstract
In the second half of 2017, the Danjiangkou Reservoir carried out an experimental impoundment. Based on this impoundment, the three-dimensional finite element simulation technology is applied to simulate the temperature and stress distribution during the whole process from concrete placement to trial impoundment completion. The working behavior of the dam including change of temperature, stress, deformation and the open degree of joint surface during the impoundment process is emphatically analyzed and compared with the measured results. The results show that the whole dam section deforms downstream under the combined effect of the water rising and temperature decreasing during the impoundment process. The calculated results are consistent with the measured values. The temperature and stress in the dam body are not affected obviously during the impoundment process, but the surface temperature drops obviously, stress increases significantly on the surface and downstream slopes. The vertical joint faces of dam tend to be closed.
