Abstract
A method developed to simulate the operation characteristics of a photovoltaic system is presented. The operational characteristics are simulated using meteorological data and the per-hour load data at a substation, that supplies electric power to a residential area both accumulated over a one-year period. The simulation can be carried out in three modes, depending on the power generated by photovoltaic cells and the load. Mode one is when the system is operating under normal conditions; mode two prevents the battery from getting overcharged; and mode three prevents the battery from getting overdischarged. An example calculation is provided.<>
