Comparative Analysis of Asian EXIM Banks

Abstract

This paper compares funding structure, financial facilities, and evolution of roles and activities of Export-Import Banks (EXIMs) in six Asian economies -- Japan, Korea, Taiwan of China (hereinafter referred as Taiwan), India, Thailand, and China. It examines the similarities and differences between these EXIMs and how they have changed over time. The purpose of the paper is to explore and identify benchmarks for younger EXIMs and for countries intending to establish such institutions.
