Abstract

Sepsis, a syndrome of physiologic, pathologic and biochemical abnormalities induced by infection, is a major public health concern and its incidence is increasing worldwide. Urosepsis represents an approximately 25% of all sepsis cases and it requires a multi-disciplinary team consisted by urologists, intensive care and infectious diseases specialists. We review the literature for potential changes in the steps of recognition and management of this life-threatening syndrome in an effort to widen our knowledge and minimize the risk of complications of sepsis.
