High-Q whispering-gallery modes in 2-D cavities: looking beyond the conventional circular resonator design

Abstract

Integral equation analysis of noncircular wavelength-scale WG-mode cavities is presented with applications to microlasers, waveguide filters and mm-wave oscillators. Results provide both higher accuracy and clearer physical insight than those from approximate and numerical techniques.
