The study group of the research consists of 81 students studying at the 8th grade level of a secondary school located in Şahinbey District of Gaziantep Province in the 2019-2020 academic year. In the study, semi-experimental pattern with pretest-posttest control group was used. Two classes at the 8th grade were randomly assigned, one as the control group and the other as the experimental group. In the control group of the study, the current MEB Science course was taught according to the curriculum, as for in the experimental group, the lessons were taught according to the curriculum supported by concept cartoons. In the research, “Simple Machines Unit Achievement Test” and “Simple Machines Conceptual Understanding Test” were used as data collection tools. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference in favor of the experimental group in both the post-test success scores and conceptual understanding scores of the experimental and control groups.
