Abstract
We present an approach for evaluating the spectral efficiency of a direct-sequence spread-spectrum system based on the channel cutoff rate. The spectral efficiency is evaluated independently of specific forward error control codes, and thus can provide general insight into system performance and parameter tradeoffs.
