Based on the proposed theoretical models and considering the computation complexity, the sub-optimal cooperative relay node selection algorithm is determined to pursue the maximum spectrum efficiency from the global viewpoint of heterogeneous wireless communication systems under the conditions of guaranteeing the equivalent transmission rates between the first and second hops. Abstract

In order to fulfill the interworking functionalities between the heterogeneous wireless access networks, a heterogeneous cooperative relay node based convergence structure for the interworking is presented.
