Challenges and strategies for theatrical mobility in Mexico

Abstract

Mobility in the theater presents economic, political and social challenges, relevant factors for this activity to be carried out. Although some international organizations have investigated the subject, they only describe existing institutional processes and in some cases they are not very viable. Thus, in Mexico and Latin America there is a lack of extensive research that would allow us to understand this central cycle of the artistic field from different perspectives. In order to visualize the different categories that allow the theatrical agents to reflect on the challenges and problems to be faced, a series of exploratory interviews were conducted to collectthe voices of active representatives (officials, creators and producers) of the theater in Mexico. From their experience, these participants offered us a broad vision of the main problems related to mobility, as well as the solutions they have had to facein practice and the dialogue they have generated with the institutions in charge of cultural financing
