Abstract
Chiral media have been known for a long time in optics as optically active substance with left and right circularly polarized electromagnetic waves propagating with different phased velocities. Now the interest in chiral media has increased because various applications at microwave frequency have been suggested. However there no papers concerning the investigation of wire systems located on a chiral substrate. Depending on the application, this structure may be considered either a delay system supporting surface waves, a wide-band low-profile chirostrip antenna and an appropriate transmission line with necessary polarization characteristics at microwave frequency. The authors have started theoretical investigation of the new class of plane structures representing combinations of wire system and chiral media.
