Abstract
Increasing environmental concerns promotes distributed network operators to set up renewable energy sources (RESs) and energy storage systems (ESSs). These new components together can play vital role in grid performance enhancement. In this paper, operation of an inverter-based RES and a battery energy storage system (BESS) pair are planned coordinately for reducing excess energy waste of renewable and increasing overall performance of network. Charge and discharge activity of BESS is scheduled, as reactive power output of the inverter-based RES is adjusted. A multi-objective optimization problem that minimizes active and reactive power loss as well as voltage deviation in distribution network is solved with a deterministic approach. It has been seen that active and reactive power loses may significantly reduce and voltage profile may improve, and elimination of the active power spillage may be provided by coordinated operation planning of RESs and ESSs plausibly.
