Abstract

Following a summary of the basic principles of polarimetric SAR and ISAR, a special decomposition is mentioned in some detail, and the superior capability of polarimetric radars compared with traditional single polarization radars is pointed out by applying the decomposition to simulated images of a composed model target, and to measured POL-SAR data.
