Representing piecewise linear systems for analysis and simulation

Abstract

Piecewise linear systems play an important role in nonlinear system modelling, but can be difficult to manage when it comes to analysing the system. This paper presents a compact, efficient algebraic description for a piecewise linear system and describes a method whereby a standard commercial graphical tool (SIMULINK) used for building and simulating systems can be exploited to generate the piecewise linear algebraic system description in a simple and quick manner.<>
