Constructing Explainability

Abstract

In this short paper, we are introducing the main idea of the interdisciplinary Transregional Collaborative Research Centre TRR 318 “Constructing Explainability”. Based on investigations of explaining as a process and a social practice, the center has the aim to develop co-constructive explainable AI that are flexible in negotiating the relevant content of an explanation and thus empower citizens to be active participants in a digital society.
