Abstract

There are many tasks which need to generate high quality powerful relativistic electron beams (REB). One of them is to drive the free electron maser by the REB. The pumping efficiency of electromagnetic waves by powerful relativistic electron beams essentially depends on a velocity spread of the beam electrons. One of the main problems here is to reach a small velocity spread of the beam electrons.
