The model is based on the formulation of a finite macro-element which takes into account the coupling between the loss of bond and the loss of steel cross-section due to corrosion. This model was used to predict the mechanical behaviour of the beams of the Rance. Comparisons between the experimental results and the model predictions, obtained without any fitting of the parameters show a good agreement. Corrosion phenomenon and its consequences (bond loss and steel loss) on structural performance, which is especially quantifiable on cyclic tests seems to be correctly taken into account in the model.
