Abstract
Virtual reality has given a paradigm shift to the technological world. Compared to a world of just images, it renders an artificial environment which provides an immersive experience to its users. VR is not only enhancing lives of physically fit people but also changing the life styles of disabled people. This paper discusses how virtual reality has changed lifestyles of disabled people and how virtual reality (VR) can increase the usability of the systems designed for disabled people. The actual focus is to describe the weak points of disabled people that are being addressed by VR. Evaluation of the systems using VR technology against simple systems (without VR) has also been carried out which highlights significant changes in the usability and user experience of devices, designed for disabled people.
