Cartographic Study of Vegetation in the Baykal Forest Reserve

Abstract

A Russian vegetation geographer describes the latest research undertaken in a long-term program of inventory and mapping of forest vegetation in East Siberia's Baykal Forest Reserve. Detailed cartographic representation of the vegetation of the Pereyemnaya and Abiduy river basins is provided in the form of maps and descriptive text. A large-scale map compiled during the course of the research may serve as a model for identifying the structure of vegetation when interpreting remote sensing images of other regions in the Khamar-Daban mountain system.
