Abstract
We propose an aggregation scheme that provides expansiveness as well as confidentiality of data and a lightweight key pre-distribution for linear Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Applications of linear WSNs are pipeline monitoring, subway tunnel monitoring, perimeter surveillance and border monitoring. For such applications, how connectivity plays a major role and the importance of data confidentiality is discussed in the paper. We initially present two of the existing aggregation schemes and then propose a KPS and an inspired aggregation scheme. We also describe the comparison with existing schemes in terms of communication cost. Detailed mathematical proofs of the proposed schemes are also discussed. Symmetric Key Pre-distribution Scheme (KPS) helps in utilizing the limited storage acquired by every sensor node and aggregation helps in conserving the power requirement by sending data in hop-by-hop fashion to the base station in WSN. To the best our knowledge, the proposed scheme is the first in providing data confidentiality as well as the secure expansive aggregation for linear WSN.
