Abstract

This paper presents a real-time sign display system that uses a computer generated 3D human model to display signs. Motion of the parametric human model is generated at run-time using a combination of a keyframe animation technique and the forward kinematics technique. Thus the system allows users an interactive control of the motion display, the viewing angles and signing speed of the 3D model. This system is easily extendable and adaptable to any sign language by the graphical sign editor that allows creation and modification of the signs in the database.
