Abstract

The strong volatility of wind power output and load demand requires an effective method to schedule operating reserve in power systems. Not only the up reserve (UPR) but also the down reserve (DNR) should be considered when scheduling operating reserve. This paper presents a novel method for scheduling both UPR and DNR considering the constraints of operating reliability and wind curtailment in power systems.
