Abstract
The article is devoted to the conceptual analysis of the Jungian archetype, as the innate psychic structure of personality in the historical-philosophical context. Firstly, it was established a difference between instincts, as physiological manifestations of the libido (vital psychic energy), which can be embodied in symbolic images and fantasies and archetypes – psychic substrates, that are produced by the collective unconsciousness. Secondly, it is noted, that archetypes, as archaic prototypes can restore in human memory the sacred connection between past events and the present moment. Thirdly, it is shown, that the determining function of the archetype, as a «universal matrix», is the accumulation and translation (representation) of the collective experience of mankind. Fourthly, it is substantiated, that archetypes are genetically inherited psychic structures that influence human behavior and thinking. Fifthly, it is pointed out that archetypes are energetically powerful structure-forming elements of the collective unconsciousness, which can generate impulses capable to modify a person’s consciousness intentions. Sixthly, it is elucidated, that archetypes manifest in human consciousness in the form of a variety of psychic phenomena and emotional reactions, that can awaken intuition, which can warn a human even about mortal danger. Seventhly, it is specified, that the final stage in the process of individuation (development of the Self) is the integration of two opposing instances of the psyche of the personal unconsciousness and the collective unconscio usness, which takes place in the «territory of consciousness». Eighthly, it is emphasized, that the key mission of the hero is to pass the stage of initiation, which returns him to the archaic origins of being and is for him the pledge to the spiritual renewal and development of personality. Ninthly, it is revealed, that hero must make the right choice and step out of his own «comfort zone» into a new reality, which contributes to his self-improvement.
