The connection between toponyms and anthroponyms is noticeable in the names of Moscow metro stations, that can be used as a part of vocabulary at the lessons of Russian as a foreign language. The article deals with the specifics of working with anthroponyms on the material of the names of Moscow metro stations as the most frequently used by students. The groups of anthroponyms included in the toponyms, word-building models of Moscow metro stations’ names produced from anthroponyms, the peculiarities of toponyms’ functioning are considered. The methodology of working with anthroponyms to enlarge the students’ background knowledge and to help them to navigate in the city of Moscow is suggested. Learning anthroponyms has a great practical value to foreign students as it contributes to their mastering Russian grammar rules and enlarges the scope of their knowledge about Moscow.","PeriodicalId":253464,"journal":{"name":"RSUH/RGGU Bulletin. Abstract
Foreign students coming to Moscow deal with a lot of toponyms among which there are anthroponyms.
