Development of a Score-Based Virtual Instrument for Beginners, That Combines Composition With Performance

Abstract

This paper describes the virtual instrument "Musicurves" that plays sounds based on curves drawn on a blank score. The concept was to create a program that allows beginners to engage in both performing and composing music at the same time, by allowing the users to play sounds just by visually drawing their image of a melody as a line.
