Abstract
The reliability of inverter-fed motors depends on partial discharge (PD) behavior of stator windings. In this paper we discuss partial discharge inception voltage (PDFV) characteristics of twisted-pair samples under long-time repetitive impulses using optical and electrical PD detection methods. For PDIV measurement, we adopted step-by-step and continuous rise of peak voltage of impulse. The repetitive frequency is 500 Hz. The result suggests that PD can occur even after a long period of time of repetitive impulses. We discuss practical importance of test procedure of PDIV under the special voltage waveforms.
