The Intelligent Network of the Deutsche Bundespost Telekom - Implementation and Further Steps -

Abstract

The liberalization in the field of telecommunication started in the beginning of the 80ies. Network providers had to react with an increasing flexibility to meet the market needs in short time. The Deutsche Bundespost Telekom implemented four services based on an Intelligent Network platform in 1993. The IN-based service Virtual Private Network was made available in this year to offer this service both nationally and internationally. The evolution of the Intelligent Network will take into account the ETSI standard for Core INAP (1995) and steps towards a service creation. Using standardized interfaces and the basis of a well equipped telephone network (e.g. trigger points) IN related services will be offered in time to the market and will contribute both to the benefit of the network provider and the customer in a competing world.
