Abstract

This paper investigates the influence of the power converter on the performance of Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drives, which employ High Frequency Voltage Injection to achieve low speed control. The e ffects of IGBT voltage drop, deadtime a nd d eadtime compensation on position estimation are discussed and the use of Matrix Converter is proposed to reduce these effects.
