Abstract

Development of methodologies and techniques for systematic testing of computer software is an active area of investigation. In this session, four speakers will discuss four approaches to systematic program testing. Leon Osterweil will discuss the role of allegations in static testing, Bob Hoffman will describe an interactive program testing system, and Lori Clarke will discuss symbolic execution techniques. Hanan Samet will describe an approach to validating the translations performed by a compiler. These four papers represent current trends in program testing, and illustrate the diversity of testing strategies being investigated.
