Abstract

Research in data engineering is always influenced by application systems. This influence either arises from application-initiated end-user needs or from experience and analysis of previous system use. So, in data engineering, industrial experience plays a major role both in initiating research directions as well as in ‘real-life’ verification of theoretically gained research results.
