Abstract

The switched reluctance motor can run on high efficiency even if it is driven by the constant current with simple firing angles adjustment according to the speed and the current. The paper presents the procedure for online and model-based optimization of firing angles for high-efficiency variable speed drive. The measurement of motor efficiency shows that the objective function is continuous and has one extreme. Therefore, it is possible to use simple gradient method width lower computational time requirements. The firing angles adjustment function can be a second-order polynomial or lookup table.
