Abstract
Mortars are building materials with adhesion and hardening properties, obtained from the homogeneous mixture of one or more binders, aggregate and water, and may contain additives. The additives are added in a low percentage to the mortars aiming at improvement in the rheological, physical, chemical and mechanical properties, besides correcting possible errors during handling and execution of the mass. Its high cost justifies the search for new non-conventional materials, which contribute to the improvement and correction of traces of mortars, also having a low cost. This work aimed to study the technical feasibility of the use of non-conventional additives of low cost, softener and disinfectant, in the production of mortars. The mortar specimens, standard and with additives, in different proportions, were molded according to NBR 7215: 1996, and the compressive strength of which was evaluated at 7, 14 and 21 days of cure.
