As crises da ordem liberal

Abstract

EnglishThe idea that the liberal order is in crisis has been advanced by well‑ -established academics and several world leaders. The reasons for the crisis, its depth and implications are, however, disputed, requiring our abi‑ lity to map and synthetize arguments and facts. This article contributes to this goal, identifying the structural elements of the liberal order and the central arguments surrounding the idea of its crisis. Although it is hard to reconcile the different viewpoints, it becomes evident that it is perhaps more useful to refer to the crises of the liberal order, since the challenges to the existing post-World War II struc‑ tures are now felt at different points and in a way that is interconnected, reflecting the nature of the liberal sys‑ tem that is in place. portuguesA crise da ordem liberal e uma ideia que tem sido avancada quer por academicos de renome, quer por varios lideres politicos. As razoes da crise, a sua amplitude e as suas implicacoes mantem-se, contudo, em acesa discus‑ sao, exigindo-nos, portanto, capaci‑ dade de sintese e de mapeamento dos argumentos e dos factos. Este artigo contribui para esse objetivo, identifi‑ cando os elementos estruturantes desta ordem liberal e os argumentos centrais em torno da sua suposta crise. Embora seja dificil reconciliar os dife‑ rentes pontos de vista, torna-se evi‑ dente que e mais util falar das crises da ordem liberal, ja que os desafios as estruturas criadas no pos-Segunda Guerra Mundial se fazem sentir a par‑ tir de diferentes pontos e de forma interligada, refletindo a propria natu‑ reza do sistema liberal instituido.
