Abstract

“Breaking through Memories into Desire” is a chapter from Chris Kraus’s forthcoming critical biography of experimental artist Kathy Acker (Semiotext(e), 2017). Drawing on private correspondence and philosophicalautobiographical artwork, Kraus’s chapter opens a window onto the New York 1970s art scene and makes a claim for the relationship between emotion, thinking, sexuality, collaboration, and artistic production.
