Abstract

The video is an important source of media in the modern communication system. The video involves a large amount of data which is to be reduced through the process of motion estimation (ME) in video coding. The proposed method intelligently locates the search points to find ME with the initial fixed pattern and PSO. The integration of initial search center prediction and early termination yields improvement in search accuracy and a great reduction in search points with tolerable image quality. The proposed method achieves an average search point computation of 11.09 in the order of FS>TSS>DS>HS>EPI-PSO.
