In this paper we present an analysis of HIPERLAN channel access control protocol in an ad hoc networking scenario. We derive expressions for the probability of success, the average overhead per-channel access cycle, and the network capacity. Using an M/G/1 queueing model we approximate the average delay using equilibrium point analysis techniques.
