Abstract

Microwave power transfer (MPT) schemes have been proposed both in the near- and far-field (Fraunhofer) zones, but challenges reside in designing transmitting and receiving antenna arrays able to guarantee high-efficiency power transfer and cost-effective deployment in Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems. As a result, the design of efficient WPT systems is still an open research field, the importance of which is growing as the possibility to transfer energy by means of electromagnetic waves gathers more and more interest from the application viewpoint such as charging electronic devices in a smart home.
